DANVILLE, VA — A 72-year-old Martinsville man was beaten and left at in the emergency room of a Danville hospital.

Danville Police were called to Sovah Health Danville about 12:30 Thursday morning, where investigators found a man suffering from blunt force trauma and lacerations to his head and neck. He was transported later to Duke Medical Center, where he was last listed in serious condition.

Whoever dropped the man off at the hospital left before authorities arrived; however, police found the vehicle in the 800 block of Betts Street. Investigators searched the car and believe that is where the man was assaulted.

At this point, no charges have been filed.
