LYNCHBURG, Va. – A Danville woman was stopped at a Lynchburg Regional Airport security checkpoint  Tuesday after a loaded .38 caliber handgun was found in her luggage.

The discovery was made by a Transportation Security Administration officer. The TSA officer detected the revolver in the woman’s carry-on bag as it entered the checkpoint X-ray machine.

The TSA contacted Lynchburg police, who confiscated the gun and held the woman for questioning before issuing her a summons.

She told investigators that she forgot that she had her loaded gun with her. Her name was not released
