A lawsuit filed against Pittsylvania County Supervisor, Vic Ingram, has been thrown out of court. The lawsuit was filed by Westover resident Jim Scarce for an alleged violation of the Virginia Open Meetings Law.

Pittsylvania County Circuit Court Judge Stacy Moreau threw out the lawsuit due to a lack of evidence. The suit came from the December 2022 Board of Supervisors meeting when Ingram said he wanted to name a new jail after a former sheriff.

Other supervisors suggested that the proposal could go to the naming committee for consideration. Ingram in turn said that the proposal had already been to the committee, but two other supervisors were unaware that the meeting had taken place.
