(Henry County, Va.) — Virginia State Police have identified the man who died in a single-car crash in Henry County as 49-year-old Timothy Dwight Adkins of Martinsville.

The accident happened  at 7:45 Friday evening on Route 610, a half mile south of Route 621. The trooper who investigated said Adkins was southbound in a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder when it ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and then crossed the road striking an embankment and trees.

Adkins wasn’t wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
