(Ringgold, Va.) – The Red Cross is assisting about a dozen people who lost their homes in an apartment fire in Ringgold.

Fire Chief Mike Neal says units from Ringgold, Mount Hermon and Kentuck responded to an apartment building at 272 Wilkerson Road just after 3 a.m. Sunday. Crews spent most of the day working the call.

It’s believed the fire started in a bedroom and spread through the main building.

There were no serious injuries but two people were treated for minor burns.

Neal said it appears the fire started in a bedroom and spread throughout the main building, which was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

The American Red Cross is assisting.
