(Danville, Va.) — A Danville jury has found Pierre Dixon guilty of first-degree murder and robbery. The verdict came Wednesday at the conclusion of his three-day trial in Danville Circuit Court.

The jury deliberated for just under four hours before finding Dixon guilty of multiple felonies related to the 2013 shooting death of 35-year-old Antwan Rucker. Dixon had been charged with capital murder. The panel recommended a sentence of life plus 26 years for the crimes.

Danville Police were to the Innkeeper North on Piney Forest Road on November 9, 2013 for a report of shots fired. They found the 35-year-old dead of gunshot wounds in a car parked in the motel’s parking lot. Prosecutors say he was lured to the Innkeeper and killed during a robbery.

Dixon was indicted for capital murder, robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Sharika Murphy also was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death but the charges were amended to robbery and accessory to a homicide. She testified against Dixon.

Testimony concluded in Danville Circuit Court Tuesday and closing arguments and jury instructions were presented before the panel began deliberating.
