(Danville, Va.) – A car ran into a home on Fairlawn Drive Sunday night, compromising a gas main and forcing the evacuation of surrounding homes.

Danville firefighters and rescue personnel were sent to the 100 block of Fairlawn about 8 p.m. They found damage to a home at 102 Fairlawn and to the gas main at 110 Fairlawn.

The fire department set up an evacuation zone until Danville Utilities workers could shut off the gas.

The driver and the occupants of both homes were uninjured in the accident.

The Red Cross was called in to assist the families.
