(Danville, Va.) — A 60-year-old man is recovering after he was struck by a car on West Main Street Tuesday afternoon.

It happened about 3 p.m. as the man was in the crosswalk leading from a hospital parking lot to SOVAH Hospital.

He suffered an injury to his right leg. The Danville Lifesaving Crew responded, applied a splint and took the man on a stretcher to the emergency room. Police say the pedestrian was alert and responsive and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
