(Cumberland County, Va.) — Authorities searching for a missing Cumberland County woman discovered human remains and a work truck linked to the case in Mecklenburg County on Thursday. The remains will be taken to the state medical examiner’s office for autopsy and identification.

Police said earlier this week that they were looking for Cumberland resident Amy Renee Fabian, 43, in the South Hill and Mecklenburg area. She had not been seen since a man was found dead in her home early last Friday.

A suspect in the man’s killing, George W. Knisley IV, 41, of Carroll County, Md., was arrested last Friday night after a police chase in Raleigh, N.C. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is suspected in Fabian’s disappearance, the police said. He is Fabian’s ex-boyfriend.

The man found dead in Fabian’s house was Matthew T. Broyles, 29, of Powhatan County. Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller described Broyles and Fabian as friends.

Police said they believe Knisley left Fabian’s home in the truck, a 2002 white Ford F-350 that had been reported stolen in Maryland last Thursday.
