DANVILLE, Va. – An indictment has been returned in a Danville murder.

A grand jury this week issued a first-degree murder indictment against 29-year-old Rakim La’Tae Knight in the shooting death of Kymon Haley.

The charges stem from a shooting that happened in the 800 block of Parker Road on Aug. 2, 2019. Officers responded at 11:20 that night and found a man lying on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the emergency room by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead a short while later.  The victim was identified as 21-year-old Kymon Haley of Milton, NC.

Danville Police said at the time that the victim and suspect knew one another and that an ongoing dispute escalated into a shooting incident.

Knight continues to be held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.
