The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources is reminding the public to stay away from deer fawns. May & June are peak months for whitetail deer fawns and they can lie in the grass as a survival tactic while their mothers are away. This can encourage people to approach them because they appear orphaned or abandoned. It is against state law to raise any wildlife in captivity.
