The Danville Planning Commission recommended approval of changes to zoning code on Monday. Development of CODE Danville, a Unified Development Code, began after the issuance of a Purchase Order between ZoneCo and the City of Danville on February 11, 2025. 

Since that date, Planning Division Staff has held community engagement events, mailed correspondence, held meetings with stakeholders and conversations with multiple City Departments to craft CODE Danville. The proposed changes are a direct result of the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan set to address the changing needs of the City of Danville. The effective date of the current Zoning Code is February 2004.

Planning Director Renee Burton discussed some of the changes to the zoning code during the meeting.

Burton also added that one change will encourage growth in a specific part of town.
