DANVILLE, Va. – A tractor-trailer loaded with relief supplies left Danville at the break of day Friday, bound for hurricane-ravaged Louisiana.

God’s Pit Crew spokesman Randy Johnson said Thursday night that the all-volunteer agency would dispatch crews to the hardest hit areas to distribute relief supplies and to help clear debris from yards and homes.

Johnson said crews loaded a truck full of relief supplies in advance of the storm, which hit the Texas and Louisiana coast as a Category 4 monster with 150 mph winds Thursday morning. “This is a huge, impactful storm and we are prepared to respond,” said Johnson.

God’s Pit Crew is shipping Blessing Buckets, bottled water, Gatorade, and life-sustaining products to storm victims.

With Laura continuing to cause damage as a tropical storm, the agency is also making plans to send an immediate response team of volunteers to begin removing debris, placing tarps on roofs, and helping clean out damage.

Monetary donations are being accepted through the group’s website.
