FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – A Pittsylvania County man has been charged with second-degree murder in a shooting that also left a Fieldale woman wounded.

The Martinsville Bulletin reports 58-year-old Forest Christopher Fielder is being held without bond at the Franklin County Jail in the shooting death of 54-year-old Ricky Lee Southern of Reidsville, N.C. The 58-year-old Fieldale woman was not identified but police say she suffered life-threatening injuries.

At about midnight Saturday, Pittsylvania County’s emergency 911 Center notified Franklin County that Pittsylvania deputies were answering a call to a shooting on Burton Lake Road in the western part of Pittsylvania County. They found the woman there.

Franklin County deputies then went to the victim’s mobile home in the Snow Creek area, where they found Southern dead of a gunshot wound.

Both shootings happened in Franklin County.
