DANVILLE, Va. – More offices and schools in Danville and Pittsylvania County are reporting positive cases of COVID-19.

Due to exposures, both the Pittsylvania County Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue offices will be closed to the public until Wednesday, Dec. 9. Both offices are undergoing deep cleaning while employees are tested and contact tracing efforts are underway. Accommodations are being made to allow employees to complete as much work as possible remotely until the offices can safely reopen.

In Danville, Public Schools spokeswoman Ann Moore Sparks is reporting additional cases of the virus involving teachers and students.

A staff member of the Langston Alternative School campus tested positive Monday and was on the campus this week. In addition, one student at Grove Park Preschool, one student at Galileo Magnet High School, and a student at George Washington High School tested positive for the virus.

The Galileo and Grove Park students were both last on campus Nov. 24. The George Washington student is learning virtually and has not been in the school since August.

The announcement from Danville Public Schools said there were no other exposures as a result of these new cases.

17 cases have been confirmed since some students returned to in-person learning on Nov. 9.
