PULASKI COUNTY, Va. – Two people died when a pair of fishing boats collided on Claytor Lake in Pulaski County Wednesday.

The deaths were confirmed by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources but the names of the two people who died were not immediately available.

A passerby spotted the accident and called authorities. There were no witnesses to the collision so wildlife officers are trying to reconstruct the events that led up to the accident.

Officials believe the fishing boats collided just before noon Wednesday.

The investigation is continuing.
