DANVILLE, Va. – An elderly man was found safe Sunday night, 20 minutes after Virginia State Police issued a Senior Alert seeking his whereabouts.
83-year-old Lonnie Leon Johnson was reported missing just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The alert was canceled at 9:47 p.m. after Danville Police located Johnson, unharmed.
Authorities said Johnson was last seen at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Wal-Mart on Mount Cross Road in Danville. At the time, he was driving gold, 1999 Mercedes with North Carolina tags.
Police said that they feared for his safety because Johnson is cognitively-impaired.
