DANVILLE, Va. – The American Red Cross is assisting a Danville family following a fire at their home on Franklin Street Sunday afternoon.

The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to 660 Franklin St. and firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the small, one-story house.

The fire under control within 45 minutes, but smoke and water damage was reported throughout the house.

The fire started in some copper piping that had been soldered. That ignited combustibles located within the crawl space of the house.
