Our Danville Dental Associations Citizen of the Month for May is Kenny Lewis

Our WBTM/Danville Dental Associates Citizen of the Month for May is Kenny Lewis…our author wishes to remain anonymous.

Kenny grew up in Danville where he attended GWHS and excelled in sports: football, basketball, and track. He attended VA Tech where he was an All-American in football and track…later to be enshrined into the VA Tech HOF. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders and went on to become a star running back for the New York Jets from ‘81-‘84.

Following his stint in the NFL, Kenny returned to GWHS where he coached and taught P.E. He became an assistant principal at the elementary and middle school levels before becoming principal at GWHS.

Kenny enjoys helping kids be successful and removing barriers that might otherwise hinder them. He was one of the founders of the Boys and Girls Club of the Danville Area and one of the founders of the Danville Church and Community Tutorial Program helping hundreds of youth turn their failing grades around and graduate…with many going onto college. Kenny’s goal is to help kids get an education, so they can better themselves and have a successful life. There are many who point to Kenny and thank him for taking an active interest in their lives.
