A member of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department died less than 24 hours after responding to a call. According to a social media post Christopher Smith was an employee of the department’s EMS staffing partner and was assigned to Bethany in 2014. His colleagues say Chris quickly developed a love for the community from attending the annual Officer Awards dinners and holiday parties, to helping out at BCS Fire Prevention Days on his own time.
