The Virginia Department of Health announced a monkeypox case in a southwest Virginia resident. The specific location wasn’t disclosed. DOH reported 5 new cases on Wednesday bringing the total to 8. Multiple countries are currently experiencing a monkeypox outbreak. Few hospitalizations and one death have been reported globally thus far. As of last week the CDC reported just over 170 cases in the United States.
