This afternoon Governor Glenn Youngkin announced a new public safety initiative in Norfolk. The plan titled “Operation Bold Blue Line” is a five part plan to tackle crime across the state.

According to NBC 29,  Youngkin plans to propose funding in the upcoming budget to fix wage issues for state law enforcement. He also plans to propose $30 million  to spend on a national recruitment campaign.

During his announcement, Youngkin was joined by law enforcement from across the state, including the Danville Police Department. In a post on the Danville Police Department Facebook page the department said they were honored to join Youngkin.

“The Danville Police Department was honored to stand alongside Governor of Virginia Younkin during his announcement of Operation Bold Blue Line in Norfolk at Slover Library. Major Jones and Major Wiles participated in a roundtable discussion about effective and efficient law enforcement initiatives in Danville, VA. DPD is thankful to be recognized for our efforts to curb violent crime and engage in positive relationships with our community.”
