The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam that is going around. According to Sheriff Lane Perry, residents have been receiving phone calls where a person acts like a deputy and says that the victim is about to be arrested for missing jury duty.

The scammer will then say the person can pay a fine to avoid an arrest. The sheriff’s office is reminding residents that all jury duty summons are served from the office. If a warrant is issued for an arrest deputies will show up at your residence and there won’t be a phone call.

Deputies also don’t request payment over the phone or through e-mail. In some cases, the scammers have used the victim’s personal information and spoofed the Henry County Sheriff’s Office phone number in an attempt to be more convincing.

Anyone who has been victimized by this scam or has more information is asked to contact Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751.
