The Danville Police Department and the Danville Sheriff’s Office participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run on Wednesday morning. Law enforcement officials as well as members of the community participated in the run that began at the police department, then traveled down West Main St., turned right on S. Ridge St., then left on Patton St., and ended at the Courthouse.

Each summer, law enforcement officials from across Virginia carry the Flame of Hope on a 1,900-mile journey to the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Game Ceremony in Richmond. The ceremony will begin on Friday at the University of Richmond.
