A 44-year-old Java man died in a motorcycle accident on August 1 in Campbell County. According to Virginia State Police, at 6:30 pm a motorcycle driven by 44-year-old Brian Witcher was traveling at a high rate of speed on Brookneal Highway near the Brown Hills Road intersection.

The motorcycle then hit a car that pulled out into the road as it got to the top of a hill. Witcher later died at a Lynchburg hospital from his injuries. There were no charges filed by state police.
