A Stanleytown man has been arrested following a stabbing on Friday afternoon. At 4:22 pm, the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call in reference to a disturbance at 74 Halifax Drive in Collinsville. 

Deputies and investigators from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located a female victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.

During the investigation it was discovered that 26-year-old John Goodman and the victim got into an argument about living arrangements. When Goodman arrived at Halifax Drive, he went to Apartment #5, to get his belongings. 

During this time Goodman observed the victim exit a neighboring apartment. Goodman became upset because the victim had changed her living arrangements. Goodman approached the victim and stabbed her in the back with a knife. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds and was transported to Sovah Health Martinsville for non-life-threatening injuries.

Goodman was located walking on Halifax Drive and was taken into custody without incident. Goodman has been charged with malicious wounding and is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
