In an effort to reduce speeding and increase walkability and pedestrian safety, the City of Martinsville will begin the process of replacing five stoplights in Uptown Martinsville with stop signs on March 25, 2024.
Over the next 30 days, the stoplights will become flashing red before transitioning to a stop sign. During that period, city officials will monitor traffic changes. If the changes occur without issue, the stoplights will be removed, and the changes will be made permanent on April 25, 2024.
The following intersections will be impacted:
Moss Street & W. Church Street
Bridge Street & E. Church Street
E Church Street & Walnut Street
E Church Street & Broad Street
