A Danville man has pleaded guilty to an armed robbery that occurred at the Food Lion at Market Square in Pittsylvania County. 30-year-old Christopher Harris was a former employee of the store that he robbed.

The armed robbery occurred on June 28, 2023. Harris entered the store and placed two bags of Cheetos on the counter, when the cashier opened the register, Harris pulled out a firearm and took the cash drawer.

Harris took about $1,300 in the robbery. He was arrested about a week later by Danville Police and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Harris pleaded guilty to one count of Hobbs Act Robbery and is facing a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
