The River District Association (RDA) is excited to be hosting SPARK (Formerly Start-up Slam). The event is similar to past
idea sharing events, but new and improved. This time, the event is free, so RDA encourages anyone and everyone to attend to share their amazing business ideas, or to watch and be inspired.

SPARK will be held on Wednesday, April 17th, from 6 pm to 8 pm at The Beauty and Wellness Center, 750 Main Street,
Danville VA.

The event is free but registration at bit.ly/RDASpark, or by phone (434-791-0210) is required. Light snacks and drinks
will be provided. Anyone 5 and up can share their idea.

Up to 10 participants at the event are welcome to share their ideas with the crowd (3-minute limit), and attendees will
be able to vote on for their favorite idea at the end of the evening; one vote per person over 5 years old. There will be a
three cash prizes based on vo6ng results: First Place ($150), Second Place ($75) and Third Place ($50).

Those who wish to share their idea have the following guidelines:
• Ideas must be new business ideas (not yet established).
• Those who wish to share their idea will put their name in at the door.
• Up to 10 names will be drawn randomly to present (if more than 10 people put their name in, not all may be
able to present).
• Each presenter has 3 minutes to share one idea.

The RDA encourages those planning to be present to spread the word, bring friends and family, and be open to new
connections!

“We want to continue to break down barriers to par6cipa6on and create opportunities for people to get paid for their
good ideas” said Diana Schwartz, CEO of the River District Association. “Small businesses and side gigs are born from
new ideas, and of old ideas reworked. This is a great way to test out public reaction to that idea, practice speaking to a
group, or make some quick cash with no strings attached.”
