Two people have been arrested following a homicide in Pittsylvania County. According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched on Monday at 4:30 pm to a residence in the 500 block of Iris Lane for an unconscious 36-year-old male.

Once on scene, deputies found the man deceased and identified him as Andrew Malachi Dickinson, a resident of the home. The body was transported to the Chief Medical Examiner, who determined the cause of death was a homicide by firearm.

On Thursday, investigators with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua Kiser, 22, of Lynchburg. Kiser has been charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of murder, armed burglary, use of a firearm in the commission of armed burglary and shooting inside an occupied dwelling.

38-year-old Francis Whitley, of Martinsville, has also been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to armed burglar and murder.

Both Kiser and Whitley are being held in the Pittsylvania County Jail. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
