
One man was arrested following a homicide in Pittsylvania County on Sunday. According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, at 8:30 am, the Pittsylvania County 911 Center received information from Henry County 911 regarding a possible homicide in the 5800 block of Cascade Road.
Deputies and investigators responded to the area and found a body. The body was identified as 39-year-old Mayra Gonzalez Galvin.
A young child was located inside the residence unharmed. Child Protective Services was immediately notified. Coordination regarding the child’s placement and release to immediate family members will be handled jointly through Child Protective Services and law enforcement authorities.
Based on information developed during the preliminary stages of the investigation, law enforcement issued an all-points bulletin for a person of interest connected to the case. Shortly thereafter, officers with the Martinsville Police Department located and stopped the vehicle, and investigators with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office responded to their location.
25-year-old Luis Jaime Oscasio-Padilla of Cascade Mill Road, was taken into custody. He has been charged with first degree murder, armed burglary with the intent to commit a felony and use of a firearm in the commission of murder.
He is currently being held at the Pittsylvania County Jail.
