A large housing complex in Danville that was previously approved has taken the first step to reduce lot sizes. The Danville Planning Commission voted 3-1 in favor of allowing Blackstone building group to reduce several of the lots in the Vandola Crescent development from 18 to 16 feet.

Rick Myers, the developer of the project, spoke about the request.

In July of 2024, Danville City Council approved the development for up to 360 two and three story townhomes. Current plans for the development call for 317 townhomes. 221 of the units would be affected by the lot change.

City Staff had previously recommended denial of the request for reducing the lots due to incompatibility with the surrounding community, concern for the quality of housing presented at a reduced width, and the density that would be allowed with the reduction.

The lot sizes will now be voted on by Danville City Council at a future meeting.
