Two people were arrested after three dogs were killed in Rockingham County on Monday. According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call in the area of 111 Lavender Dr in Stoneville in reference to a disturbance and gunshots.

Upon deputy’s arrival to the area contact was made with 41-year-old Samuel Wallace Reynolds III, and 52-year-old Lisa Still Downs. Reynolds advised that he had attempted to break up a fight between his dogs and sustained an injury in doing so. 

After further inquiry of the situation, and investigation by deputies with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, it was learned that three of Reynolds dogs had been shot and killed during this incident inside and outside the home.

Reynolds was charged with three counts of Felony Cruelty to Animals, Felony Possession of three Firearms by Felon, and Felony Discharge of Firearm Within Enclosure to Incite Fear. Reynolds was taken before the Rockingham County Magistrate where he was given a $5,000.00 secured bond and placed in the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility.

Subsequently during this investigation 52-year-old Lisa Still Downs was also charged with one count of Felony Possession of a Firearm by Felon. Downs was also taken in front of the Rockingham County Magistrate where she was given a $5,ooo.oo secured bond and placed in the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office detention Facility.
