DANVILLE, Va. – Danville firefighters were called to a house fire at 154 Orchard Drive during the height of Monday night’s storm. Crews arrived at 8:13 pm and found a single-story house with heavy smoke showing from the roof.

Firefighters from the Third Ave Fire Station entered the home and used a hand line to douse a fire in the attic. Shortly after entering the home, flames shot through the roof, forcing crews to battle the blaze from outside the structure. A ladder truck knocked down most of the fire before hand line operations resumed.

The house sustained heavy fire, smoke, heat and water damage. The home was occupied at the time of the fire, but everyone was  located safely outside.

Five engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, and a safety officer responded. 22 fire personnel were on the scene for about 3 hours.  The Danville Life Saving Crew assisted on scene.

There were no injuries and the cause is under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
