Governor Glenn Youngkin has declared a state of emergency to assist with response and recovery efforts due to impacts from heavy rainfall and severe flooding in Southwest Virginia. The heavy rain started Tuesday and continued into Wednesday. Flash flooding occurred in Buchanan County and dozens of people are unaccounted for. Youngkin says the Commonwealth is assisting with ongoing response and recovery operations.
