The ballots have been cast and the results are in for the 2022 local midterm elections across the southside. For Danville City Council the four incumbents Mayor Alonzo Jones, Vice Mayor Dr. Gary Miller, Bryant Hood, and James Buckner all remained on council by winning the four seats up for grabs.

In the Danville School Board election TyQuan Graves and Keisha Averett retained their seats, while newcomer Keith Silverman claimed the third available seat. Keisha Walker ran unopposed and won a School Board spot for a unexpired term that ends on December 31, 2024.

This election was a record turnout in Danville for a City Council and School Board election as over 40% of registered voters participated in Danville. In past City Council and School Board elections that took place in May, Danville voters came out at an average of 18-20%.
