Henry County Sheriff’s Office K9, Melo, retired on December 31. Melo was partnered with Sergeant Sara Munn and the two have been partners for over 4 years now. K9 Melo was born in Germany on August 13, 2015 and has served his community for the last 6 years.

Melo is a dual purpose K9, certified by North American Police Work Dog Association in Obedience, Narcotics Detection, Aggression Control, Building/Area Searches, Article/Evidence Searches and Suspect Apprehension. Melo has been instrumental in helping get narcotics off the streets, locating evidence on crime scenes, and assisting with the apprehension of many fugitives. Melo has also done many demonstrations for the public, showing off his skills, and made so many friends along his way.
Melo will live out his life with Sgt. Munn and her family, learning to become a house pet. He is sure to be spoiled with all the treats and toys he deserves for his years of dedication to not only his handler but his community as a whole. Thank you K9 Melo for all the years you have stood watch. May your retirement be filled with love and gratitude.
