Dan River and Virginia Tech alum Trey Edmunds announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday. Edmunds played five seasons in the NFL from 2017-2021 with the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Edmunds announced his retirement in a post on social media.

During his high school career at Dan River, Edmunds rushed for over 4,500 yards and scored 55 touchdowns. Edmunds went to play three years at Virginia Tech where he had a breakout freshman season with over 800 yards of total offense and 12 touchdowns. He transferred to his father, Ferrell Edmunds, alma mater Maryland for his senior season.
