The Danville Office of Economic & Tourism (DOEDT) in partnership with the Virginia Economic
Developers Association (VEDA), will celebrate Economic Development Week in Virginia May 6 –
10.

The International Economic Development Council created the annual celebration to raise awareness of economic development and its impact on communities. The week is an opportunity to amplify the state’s outstanding business climate, job creation and retention, tax revenues and overall quality of life. CNBC ranked Virginia No. 2 among the nation’s Top States for Business in 2023.

“Everyone who works or lives in Virginia contributes to our economic development,” said Linda
Green, President of VEDA and the Executive Director of Southern Virginia Regional Alliance.
“Collaboration has been key across multiple sectors in our communities to maintain Virginia’s
competitive edge.”

“The mission of the Danville Office of Economic Development and Tourism is to improve the economic health and quality of life of the city of Danville through the creation and retention of jobs, building of local wealth, and increasing the tax base,“ states Corrie Bobe, Director of the DOEDT. “This week, we will share information about the role economic development practitioners and regional partners play in transforming our community and spurring growth.”
