The Danville Police Department responded to a reported breaking and entering and discovered a fire on Wednesday. Officers responded to the call on Montague Street and while at the scene detected the smell of smoke.

The Officer then called the Danville Fire Department to investigate. Upon further assessment, the officer discovered an active fire and immediately called for additional fire apparatus. Fire crews arrived and quickly declared a working fire, initiating suppression efforts.

Authorities are continuing to investigate both the reported break-in and the fire. No further details have been released at this time.
