A body was found in a river in Rockingham County on Sunday. According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, at around 5 pm, kayakers reported a possible body in the river near the boat landing located on Bethlehem Church Rd. in Eden.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that there was a deceased male located in the river. Due to the location of the deceased individual assistance was requested from the Eden Rescue Squad, Madison Rescue Squad, and Reidsville Rescue Squad for access to swift water rescue equipment.

The NC State Bureau of Investigation and their Crime Scene personnel were also contacted to assist. The body of the unknown male was recovered and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination and investigation to determine cause of death and identification.

This incident is not believed to be connected to any recent identified or unidentified human remains located in Rockingham County.
